Vortragstitel: Der Klimawandel - Vergangenheit, Ursachen und mögliche Zukünfte
Douglas Maraun, Wegener Center, University Graz

Kurzfassung:

Der Vortrag gibt einen allgemein verständlichen Überblick über den Klimawandel und konzentriert sich dabei auf drei zentrale Fragen: Wie hat sich das Klima bereits verändert? Was sind die Ursachen dieser Veränderungen? Und was erwarten wir für die Zukunft? Eingangs werden die beobachteten Klimaänderungen seit Beginn der Industrialisierung vorgestellt und in den größeren Zusammenhang natürlicher Klimaschwankungen der Erdgeschichte der letzten 60 Millionen Jahre eingeordnet. Im Zentrum stehen anschließend die globale Energiebilanz der Erde und der Treibhauseffekt als grundlegender Mechanismus des Klimasystems. Ausgehend davon werden die wichtigsten Einflussfaktoren globaler Klimaänderungen betrachtet – darunter Sonneneinstrahlung, Luftverschmutzung, Landnutzung, Treibhausgase sowie zufällige Schwankungen. Darauf aufbauend werden das Konzept der Klimasensitivität und zentrale klimatische Rückkopplungen eingeführt. Abschließend richtet sich der Blick in die Zukunft: Welche klimatischen Entwicklungen sind möglich und welche Kipppunkte könnten überschritten werden?
